Tredehene Partners with Gold Coast Foundation to Provide Free Medical Screening

Tredehene Nana Nuben Sra III, in collaboration with the Gold Coast Medical Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in the USA, has organized a free medical screening for residents of the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region.

This initiative is part of the foundation’s efforts to support and improve healthcare delivery in the community.

Residents were educated and screened for various health conditions, including malaria, typhoid fever, high blood pressure, hepatitis B, dental issues, and vision problems.

In addition, the foundation provided educational materials and toiletries to several basic schools in the area to enhance teaching and learning.

In an interview with Opemsuo News, Nana Aboronoma Nyarkoa, a native of Trede, confirmed that the chief, Nana Nuben Sra III, partnered with the foundation to provide the free medical screening, which included consultations and medications at no cost.

She emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare for all, noting that many people in rural areas often face challenges in accessing quality medical services.

“Proper healthcare is essential for every individual. A longer life and good health depend on regular check-ups, as environmental factors can pose risks to human health. Access to necessary medical services leads to healthier lives,” she stated.

Dr. Kwaku N. Boakye, co-founder of the foundation, noted that it was established in 2006 but began supporting health initiatives in rural areas in 2009. He explained that the foundation continues to support healthcare delivery for citizens annually.

“Every citizen should undergo a thorough medical check-up every six months, or at least once a year, to monitor their health status and prevent serious illnesses. Prevention is better than cure,” Dr. Boakye advised.

He added that poor diets and inadequate hydration contribute to high blood pressure and chronic diseases, and encouraged the public to seek guidance from dietitians regarding their dietary choices.

Tredehene praised the Gold Coast Medical Foundation for organizing the free health screening and providing medications to the community. He urged citizens to monitor their health and follow medical advice regarding their treatment.

“Medical professionals from various fields have volunteered their services for this initiative, highlighting a community-wide effort to improve health outcomes in the constituency,” he stated.

The screenings are being conducted at multiple locations, including Moshie Zongo, Ntotroso in the Ahafo Region, Trede, and other communities in the Ashanti Region, to maximize access to healthcare.

Beneficiaries of the health screenings expressed gratitude to the foundation and Nana Nuben Sra III for the initiative, with many highlighting the financial burden of healthcare costs. They described the initiative as a lifesaver for those who cannot afford regular medical check-ups.
