Two Arrested in Kintampo With 166 Parcels of Suspected Cannabis Worth GHS 107,000

The Bono East Regional Police Command has arrested two men for possessing 166 parcels of dried plant material suspected to be cannabis during a patrol operation over the weekend.
The suspects, identified as Sadic Wemah, 42, and Senbeti Karim, 39, were intercepted by a patrol team from the New Longoro Police Station at about 12:40 p.m. along the New Longoro–Weila stretch of the Kintampo–New Longoro road.
Police reported that the men were travelling from the Kintampo direction in an unregistered white Toyota Highlander when they were stopped.
A search of the vehicle uncovered two sacks containing 166 parcels of the suspected narcotic substance.
Both suspects were arrested at the scene and taken to the Kintampo Divisional CID for further action.
Upon interrogation, the two men admitted the substance was cannabis and claimed ownership, according to the police.
They told investigators they bought the drugs from a man identified only as Edem, alias “Confirm,” who allegedly moves cannabis from the Volta Region through Tamale.
The suspects said they took delivery of the consignment at a filling station near the new market in Kintampo.
They disclosed that the street value of the seized substance is about GHS 107,000 and that they intended to transport it to Banda Nkwanta in the Bono Region for sale.
The suspects remain in Police custody, assisting with investigations.
The 166 parcels of suspected cannabis and the unregistered Toyota Highlander have been retained as exhibits.
The Bono East Police Command commended the vigilance of the patrol team and reaffirmed its commitment to fighting drug trafficking within the region.
“Thorough investigations are ongoing to apprehend other persons connected to this case, including the said Edem alias ‘Confirm’,” the Command said.
Police added that further developments will be communicated in due course.
