Head Porter Jailed After Damage to Parts of Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange

A forty-eight-year-old man has been slapped with a two-year jail term for damaging the parapet beams and accessories on the newly constructed Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange.
Yaw Asare was arrested on June 9, 2025, and convicted for causing unlawful damage contrary to Section 172 of the Criminal Offences Act (Act 29) by the Dansoman Circuit Court.
The head porter will be serving his term at Nsawam Prison, the Ministry of Roads and Highways said in a statement.
“In recent times, the Ministry of Roads and Highways has observed with deep concern the rapid rate with which some members of the public cause unlawful damage to road infrastructure, including vandalism and vehicular crashes, especially those involving traffic lights.”
The Ministry warned the public against such acts and noted that it will continue to work closely with the Ghana Police Service to ensure that anyone found unlawfully damaging public road infrastructure is held accountable and faces the full force of the law.
