Nyinsinasehene Gyamani Awere Ababio Swears Allegiance to Asantehene

The newly enstooled Chief of Nyinsinase, Nana Gyamani Awere Ababio, has sworn the oath of allegiance before the Kumasi Traditional Council at the Manhyia Palace on October 20, 2025.

The ceremony marked Nana Gyamani’s formal recognition of the Golden Stool’s authority and his pledge to serve faithfully under Asantehene’s guidance.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II reminded the new chief that the greatness of a stool is not determined by its size or status, but by the integrity, humility, and dedication of the one who occupies it.

His Majesty encouraged him to lead with humility and to prioritise the welfare and development of his people.

Otumfuo also revealed that Nana Gyamani Awere Ababio had not initially sought the chieftaincy, explaining that he was chosen because of his selfless commitment during a difficult period following the death of the former chief.

“When the chief passed, this man never thought of becoming a chief,” Asantehene said.

“He only wanted to help resolve the issues, but I believed he was the right person. There was an Alhaji and a soldier, so the family was hesitant to choose him even though they wanted him. I asked for him myself.”

Following his oath, Nananom offered words of counsel, urging the new chief to uphold the values of truth, service, and unity. They reminded him that leadership comes with both responsibility and sacrifice.

He was advised to keep sacred the Great Oath, avoid arrogance, and rule with humility and wisdom. Nananom also encouraged him to focus on development, refrain from illegal mining activities (galamsey), and work to promote peace, togetherness, and love among his people.

They further counselled him to take his duties seriously by attending traditional council meetings regularly, remaining open to learning, and seeking guidance whenever necessary.

“Enstoolment is about learning,” one elder noted. “Be humble enough to learn, for service elevates a person. Be truthful and let your actions bring honour to your stool.”
