Helicopter Crash: Preliminary Investigation Team to Submit Report Today

The preliminary investigative team set up to probe the explosion of a Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter earlier this month is set to submit its report to the Presidency.
The investigation team was constituted to gather all available evidence relating to the crash.
“The preliminary investigation team is scheduled to submit its report to the Board today,” the acting Minister for Defence, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, said in a statement.
He noted that the report will support the work of the investigation Board which has commenced.
“The Board is chaired by the National Security Coordinator, with membership drawn from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).”
The Board will be working with the advice and assistance of the United States of America through visiting investigators from the U.S. Air Force.
“The Board may also invite other relevant experts and institutions, both local and international, to assist with the investigation.”
The Investigation Board has been mandated to complete its work within 30 days.
Crash
A GAF helicopter crashed on August 6, 2025, in Adansi Akrofrom in the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
It also claimed the lives of Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General, NADMO, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manden Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
