Propaganda Is Killing Ghana – Political Scientist

Dr. Kwesi Amakye-Boateng, a respected political scientist at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has issued a stern warning about the dangers of sabotage and propaganda, describing them as major obstacles to Ghana’s progress and stability.

Speaking on Nkwantananso with Kofi Boakye on Opemsuo Radio on Tuesday, April 22, Dr. Amakye Boateng stressed that acts of internal sabotage have the power to dismantle a nation’s unity and halt its development.

Reflecting on Ghana’s past, he noted that the forefathers treated such acts with zero tolerance to maintain peace and order.

He called for the introduction of strict laws and firm enforcement mechanisms to root out sabotage, emphasizing that a country without clear rules invites disorder and decay.

On the topic of propaganda, Dr. Boateng linked its rise to the unchecked abuse of free speech.

While acknowledging that freedom of expression is essential in any democratic society, he warned that when speech is weaponized for division or misinformation, it becomes a tool of destruction.

He proposed the idea of a national framework to promote responsible communication—one that preserves freedom but also fosters accountability.

Dr. Amakye Boateng concluded by urging Ghanaians to uphold discipline, promote unity, and reject actions that tear the nation apart from within.
