I’ve Told Kotoko Players to Overlook Negative Commentaries- Ogum

The head coach of Asante Kotoko SC, Dr Prosper Ogum, says he has encouraged the playing body to overlook morally derailing comments.
He recognises that the majority of the commentaries in the media space are toxic and unhygienic for the players’ thriving.
These commentaries, he stated, impact the players emotionally and reflect on their performance on the pitch.
“The commentary around the team must be very positive. If the commentary is not positive, it gets into them. I spoke with them yesterday,” he said at the post-match press conference on Wednesday.
“They are very much aware of the negative commentaries about themselves and the coach and I told them that it’s something they need to overlook and focus. When we get the maximum points, they are the very people who will come back.”
According to him, a prominent club like Kotoko requires players to be mentally tough for such criticisms when things go wrong.
“I’ve been trying to engage them. You can’t play for Kotoko and not be mentally tough. You have to be mentally tough…You need to be strong mentally and get the job done.”
Kotoko suffered their first defeat since the league resumed following the killing of its ardent fan at Nsoatre in February.
Accra Lions pipped them 3-0.
