Asanteman Mourns: GJA Offers Condolences To Asantehene

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has extended its condolences to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, over the passing of the Queen, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
In a statement, the Association recalled Her Majesty’s unwavering support for truth, dialogue and peaceful co-existence as well as her hospitality and wisdom.
“In this way, she embodied the very essence of communication – listening, sharing and guiding – which are anchored on the tenets of our own calling as journalists. The Asantehemaa carried her royal mantle with uncommon grace. She was not only a mother to the Asantehene; she was, indeed, a mother to Asanteman and Ghana.”
“Today, as Asanteman mourns, the Ghana Journalists Association mourns with you. We mourn not only a queen mother but also a woman of exceptional dignity who exemplified leadership through compassion.
“To His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, we convey our heartfelt sympathy. Losing your beloved mother is a pain beyond words. But we trust the memories of her enduring love, coupled with the prayers and support of the nation, will strengthen you during this period of grief.”
The Queen passed away peacefully at her residence on August 7. The news was officially announced by the Asantehene on August 11, 2025, to the Asanteman Council at an emergency meeting.
The One-week observation of the Queen is slated for August 21, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
