Over 60,000 Teachers Conclude Promotion Aptitude Test Nationwide

More than 60,000 teachers across the country have successfully concluded the three-day promotion aptitude test, with the Ghana Education Service (GES) describing the exercise as generally smooth and incident-free.
Monitoring officers reported a smooth conduct at all centres nationwide.
In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi of GES Headquarters, the Service said this year’s exercise is particularly significant as it marks a major step in the implementation of the policy to decouple ranks from office positions.
The policy is intended to broaden opportunities for career progression and ensure that deserving teachers are not disadvantaged by the limited availability of positions within the administrative structure.
By virtue of the policy, the Service will witness a remarkable 1,500% increase in the number of teachers attaining the rank of Director II, and a 340% increase in the number attaining the rank of Director I.
The Service will also witness substantial increases in the number of teachers advancing across the other ranks, namely Principal Superintendent, Assistant Director II, Assistant Director I and Deputy Director.
According to the GES, these developments represent a significant paradigm shift in the career progression of teachers and affirm the importance of recognising professional competence, experience and continued service.
It added that, as was the case last year, deliberate efforts were made to ensure that all deserving staff are given the opportunity to progress to higher ranks without being constrained by the availability of vacancies.
This, the Service said, is expected to have far-reaching implications for teacher morale and professional motivation.
The GES wished all teachers who participated in the exercise the very best of luck and acknowledged the dedication of officers, invigilators, administrators and other stakeholders whose efforts contributed to the smooth conduct of the exercise.
