Archives: Asantehemaa, the Unifier of All Queens

At a gathering on April 23, 2024, marking Queen Mothers’ Day at the Manhyia Palace, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the revered Queen of the Asante Kingdom, was celebrated as the living thread that binds all queen mothers under her care.

Hon. Akosua Frema Osei Opare, Ghana’s first female Chief of Staff, took centre stage as Guest of Honour and spoke warmly about the Asantehemaa’s unmatched role in keeping unity and harmony among women leaders in Asanteman.

She noted that the Queen’s leadership extends beyond tradition, becoming a source of strength, guidance, and compassion for all women — from market traders to fellow royals.

“We are proud of you for your love for us. Your leadership has been a unifying force for all queen mothers in your realm. You effort has led to what we see today.”

Expressing deep gratitude, the Chief of Staff pledged her commitment to supporting markets within the Queen’s jurisdiction. She assured that in times of need, such as fire outbreaks or urgent crises, assistance would be swift and certain, in honour of the Asantehemaa’s unwavering support to her and others.

In a realm steeped in tradition and respect, Nana Konadu Yiadom III stands as more than a royal figure — she is the unifying heart of Asanteman’s women, ensuring their collective strength remains unbroken.
