ADASS Shootings: Female Victim Reportedly Goes Blind

The female victim in the shooting incident at Adventist Senior High School (ADASS) has reportedly lost her sight.
The 16-year-old second-year student, in an interview with Countryside Gh at her residence at Twedie in the Ashanti Region, said she lost vision in both eyes after the incident.
Recounting the incident, which occurred on Friday, April 4 during break time, she said her right eye lost vision immediately, while her left eye was initially blurred but eventually lost sight completely.
“I am unable to see,” the visibly heartbroken teenager said amid tears, adding, “The doctors told me my eyes are wounded and would see after they heal.”
However, her uncle reported that the doctors have ruled out her possibility of seeing again.
This, he said, has not been divulged to the victim.
“When I got to the hospital, my nephew took me aside and told me the senior doctor who attended to her, said she won’t regain her sight.”
He expressed concerns about the current condition of his niece, which appears to have shattered her dream of becoming a nurse in future.
The inconsolable mother of the girl sought assistance from the government in providing the needed medical care to the girl who is said to have bullet fragments lodged in her face.
Background
According to preliminary police investigations, a locally manufactured pistol loaded with one BB round, brought to school by a 16-year-old second-year male student, went off on Friday during an argument with his friends about whether it could actually fire.
Two students sustained injuries in the process.
The juvenile suspect was immediately arrested for questioning during which he disclosed he took the weapon from his father’s bedroom without his knowledge.
The victims were taken to the hospital and have since been discharged.
