Here Are 15 Bills Being Developed By Communication Ministry

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations is currently developing 15 legislative bills, which it said would bring about a major digital transformation.
According to the Ministry, the bills represent the foundation of a modern, secure, and inclusive digital economy.
Among them are the Ghana Domain Name Registry Bill, National Communications Authority Bill, Data Harmonising Bill, Cybersecurity Amendment Bill, Electronic Communications Bill and Electronic Transaction Bill.
“It’s important to note that these bills are still in their early stages. They are draft frameworks—blueprints for a comprehensive legislative process designed to tackle the pressing challenges of Ghana’s digital ecosystem.
“From cybersecurity threats to data privacy concerns, these laws aim to create a resilient ICT regulatory environment that will propel Ghana into the global digital arena.”
Once passed, these laws are intended to protect citizens, businesses, and national infrastructure from digital threats; safeguard personal and organisational information in an increasingly connected world; and establish clear rules to guide innovation and growth in the digital economy.
They are also expected to attract tech investments and create employment opportunities for Ghanaians, expand digital services and opportunities for all by bridging the digital divide.
Affirming its commitment to openness and inclusivity, the Ministry said extensive consultations are underway with government agencies, private sector players, academia, civil society, and research institutions.
“These engagements ensure that the final legislation reflects the aspirations and needs of every Ghanaian.”
