Asantehemaa Dɔte Yie Day 2: Guest List For Today

According to the arrangements made by the Planning Committee, selected dignitaries and members of the public will have the opportunity to visit the Manhyia Palace and pay their respects to the late Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The Judiciary & Ghana Bar Association, Security Agencies, the GAF, Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Customs, SOEs & Public officials, Financial Institutions and the General Public will take their turns today, September 16.

Later in the day, they will be welcomed by the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, together with Nananom when he sits in state at noon.

Known in the local dialect as “Dɔte Yie,” the four-day traditional practice for a deceased traditional authority commenced on Monday, September 15, 2025.

The body of Her Majesty remains in repose at her residence inside the Manhyia Palace and is accessible for filing past by all.

The carefully planned burial rites have a series of activities from September 15 to September 18, when the rites will come to an end.

Her Majesty will be buried on the last day at Breman Baamu.

Filing past is reserved to take place sequentially among dignitaries and the general public from September 15 to 18, between 5 am and 5 pm, except for the last day, when it will end at 11 am to make way for a burial service at 3 pm.

A key point to note is the institution of the restriction on outdoor movement effective 7 pm on September 18 to make way for the burial of Her Majesty.
