Energy Minister Commends NPA Boss for Stabilising Petroleum Market Amid Global Shocks

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has commended the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Eduzdzi Tameklo Esq., for his instrumental role in ensuring stability in Ghana’s petroleum market amid ongoing global disruptions.

Dr Jinapor gave the commendation during his address at a Performance Review Retreat organised by the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition for its sector agencies in Ho, in the Volta Region.

The retreat brought together heads and management of agencies under the Ministry to review performance, assess progress on key mandates, and strategise for improved service delivery in line with the government’s energy transition agenda.

Addressing participants, Dr Jinapor acknowledged the difficult global energy environment characterised by price volatility, supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions, which have put pressure on petroleum product pricing and supply across many countries.

He noted that despite these challenges, Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector has remained relatively stable and resilient, crediting the leadership and proactive measures instituted by the NPA under Mr Tameklo.

According to the Minister, the Authority’s effective regulation, monitoring and market interventions have been critical in preventing shortages, curbing illicit activities, and ensuring that petroleum products remain available and affordable to consumers.

“The NPA, under the leadership of Lawyer Tameklo, has shown commendable commitment in navigating the prevailing global market uncertainties and maintaining stability within our petroleum downstream sector,” Dr Jinapor stated.
