Chinese Envoy Assures Ghana of Secured Funding for 3 Projects

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says funding remains secured and intact for three major priority projects being undertaken with Chinese support.

This follows a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Tong Defa, held on Thursday.

In a post on Facebook, Mr Ablakwa described the engagement as “very productive,” noting that discussions focused on reviewing progress on the Damongo University of Science and Engineering, the Aflao Modern Market Complex and the refurbishment of the National Theatre.

“It is great to confirm that funding remains secured and intact for these important projects,” he stated.

According to the Minister, all feasibility reports for the three projects have been completed, and Ghana is expecting a team of technical experts from China in the next few weeks for works to commence.

“We shall continue to pursue impactful diplomacy with our international partners from all continents as we face forward for development and transformation,” Mr Ablakwa added.

The three projects form part of key infrastructure initiatives under Ghana-China bilateral cooperation.
