S/R: One Killed in Head-On Crash Between Diesel Tanker and Cattle Truck at Lingbinkura

One person has died after a diesel tanker collided head-on with a KIA RHINO truck loaded with cattle at Lingbinkura near Buipe in the Savannah Region on Sunday, June 8, 2026.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a distress call was received at the Buipe Fire Station at 9:54 a.m. from Station Officer II Mohammed Abubakari Sheriff reporting the accident.
Fire Prevention and Road Extrication pickup FS 811, driven by Assistant Station Officer Ahmed Baki Kamara, was dispatched at 9:57 a.m. with a crew of five led by Leading Fireman Owusu Isaac.
The crew arrived at the scene at 10:07 a.m. and found a tanker with registration number GN 4904-17 and a KIA RHINO with registration number AS 4243-25 involved in a head-on collision.
The firefighters deployed a spreader and extricated one person who was trapped under the tanker and handed him over to the police.
The tanker was travelling from Buipe towards Wa with two persons on board and was carrying 54,000 litres of diesel while the KIA RHINO was heading from Garu to Kumasi with five persons on board and was loaded with 19 cattle and 6 goats.
Fire Service officials attributed the cause of the accident to overtaking by the KIA RHINO driver.
