Robbers Escapes After Attacking A MoMo Vendor, One Other At Effiduase
A young man is currently battling for his life after four unidentified robbers attacked a Mobile Money vendor yesterday, April 27, at Effiduase lorry station, the Sekyere East District capital in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Police, the armed robbers made away with GHc10, 000 and some mobile phones and in the process, shot at the young man who was at the scene. The victim who is described to have lost a lot of blood is currently receiving treatment at the Effiduase Government Hospital.
No arrest has been made so far, the Effiduase Police Division says.
However, speaking on Opemsuo Radio’s Nkwantananso Show with Agudey, the Chief Superintendent of the Effiduase Police Division, Chief Superintendent Antwi Boasiako blamed the no arrest on a lack of accurate information.
“After the robbers left the site, onlookers stated that the bandits escaped on a motorcycle,” he said. As a result, we informed the Kumasi Control Unit, who also informed the patrol teams along the Effiduase stretch, including Agona, Mampong, Juaben, Effiduase, and Asante Akyem, about the armed robbers’ mode of transportation. As a result, we were solely looking for those on motorcycles.”
“After learning that the criminals had made their getaway on a brown Ford transit bus, we began inspecting the Ford buses in the area.” Meanwhile, our Ford buses in Ghana are white and green. This means Ghanaians rarely provide accurate information when such incidents occur, making it difficult for us to make arrests,” he added.
He further went on to say that this is the first time such an incident has happened in Effiduase station and as a result, the police will intensify their patrols in the town.
