Prempeh College Robotics Team Receives Generous Donation from Alumnus

In a tale that echoes the spirit of benevolence, Alumnus Felix Manford has donated GHC10,000 to the Prempeh College Robotics Team. This contribution is aimed at facilitating the purchase of necessary equipment and covering other expenses associated with their robotics projects.

Felix Manford’s journey after graduating from Prempeh College in 2014  has been nothing short of impressive.

Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Administration from the University of Ghana Business School, he embarked on a successful career at Goldman Sachs UK, leaving an indelible mark in the Global Investment Research division in London.

Driven by a desire to drive positive change in Africa, Felix returned to Ghana, founding Tendo (tendo.app), where he currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder.

Tendo, an innovative platform revolutionizing online retail businesses without capital investment, has garnered attention and investments from eminent entities such as YCombinator, Google, JobTech Alliance, and Catalyst Fund.

Felix Manford’s narrative stands as a beacon of inspiration for current Prempeh College students, showcasing the heights attainable through unwavering dedication and a passion for transformative impact.

The Prempeh College Robotics Team recently etched their name in the annals of glory by securing two world championship titles at the 2023 Robofest in the United States of America. This remarkable feat follows their previous triumphs in 2019 and 2020, solidifying not only the team’s reputation but also spotlighting their exceptional skills on the global stage.

During a presentation ceremony on December 20, 2023 at Prempeh College, Felix Manford emphasized the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing Africa’s most pressing challenges. Urging the students to explore practical applications for their robotics projects, he underscored the potential for their innovations to effect meaningful change on the continent.

He further pledged ongoing support for the team, promising not just financial backing but also career guidance and opportunities in the future.

Mr. James Owusu Achiaw, the Assistant Headmaster of Prempeh College in charge of Academics, conveyed profound gratitude on behalf of the school to Felix Manford. He highlighted the indispensable role such donations play in sustaining the team’s operations and ensuring continued success.

As the Prempeh College Robotics Team readies itself for the upcoming year, their sights are unwaveringly set on the 2024 competition in the USA.

With steadfast support from dedicated alumni like Felix Manford, there is a resounding assurance that the team will not only represent Ghana with pride but will also secure yet another prestigious title on the international stage.
