Five Cast Doubt On Apemhase Queen’s Royal Status

The royalty of the Queen of Apemhase has come under contention before the Kumasi Traditional Council headed by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.
Five individuals have separately invoked the Great Oath, contesting her eligibility to the stool she occupies.
The five are also individually laying claim to stool, the Council was told on Monday.
“Each of the five are saying the stool belongs to them.”
They were identified at the Council meeting on July 21, 2025, as Opanin Sika, Maame Adwubi, Kwadwo Adade, Yaw Boakye and one other unnamed individual.
In the presence of the Council, the Queen, challenged their claims with the Great Oath while adding that Yaw Boakye was her relative- a statement he disputed.
Committee
The Asantehene established a Committee to look into the matter and find the bona fide owners of the stool.
The members included Nana Ofoasehene, Nana Owureduhene, Nana Asamponghene and Nana Drobonsohene.
