Otumfuo Graces Investiture Of AAMUSTED 1st Vice Chancellor

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was the guest of honour at the investiture of Akenteng Appiah-Minka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED)’s first Vice Chancellor, Prof Frederick Kwaku Sarfo.

 

The event took place at the Campus on May 26, 2023, and was attended by some government officials and academicians both within and outside the country.

 

Among them was the deputy Education Minister in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Gifty Twum Ampofo and Prof Kwaku Sarfo’s supervisor from the University of Leuven in Belgium, Prof Jan Allan.

 

Congratulating Prof Kwaku Sarfo, Otumfuo admonished him to work and leave for himself a legacy.

 

“As the foundation Vice Chancellor you need to develop this University such that you will be remembered always as the foundation Vice Chancellor who laid a good foundation to build this University.”

 

He also encouraged him to build the capacity of his faculty, review the University’s programmes regularly and engage in joint research.

 

“Share research findings with government in industry, work hard to make your programmes and faculties relevant in addressing national and global needs, ensure prudent management and efficient utilisation of resources, encourage cooperation and teamwork among administration, faculty and students body,” he furthered.

 

In his speech, Prof Allan expressed confidence in the VC noting that he showed academic dedication and a sense of responsibility during his time at the University of Leuven.

 

According to him, there is no doubt Prof Kwaku Sarfo will do great at his new position.

 

The President of the AAMUSTED branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), Prof Stephen Baffour Adjei, on his part called on the VC to dedicate his leadership and Office to the pursuit of inclusive academic excellence and staff development.

 

He added, “We wish to pledge our unwavering support to you and to further assure you of our cooperation and readiness to deploy the varied academic and professional expertise of UTAG in support of your administration.”

 

The deputy Education Minister, Gifty Twum Ampofo, on the other hand, reiterated the government’s commitment to TVET and implementing development-driving policies and reforms in the educational sector.

 

In his speech, Prof Kwaku Sarfo expressed gratitude to the University Council for their confidence in him and described the mandate as a call to serve God and Ghana.
