All Black Stars Expenditures are Handled By Sports Ministry Not Us- GFA

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has provided clarity into the budget and expenditure of all national teams including the Black Stars.
According to the FA, the responsibility is a shared one. While the FA prepares the budget, it said the Ministry of Sports handles all expenditure relating to the teams.
In a statement, it said, “Indeed, as part of our commitment to transparency, the GFA has always provided the Ministry responsible for Sports with the first draft budget for the national teams. Beyond this, everything to do with the budgeting and expenditure related to the Black Stars sits with the Ministry. For emphasis, payments made in relation to the Black Stars are exclusively handled by the Ministry.”
Endorsing the new government’s objective for transparency in the expenditure of the team, it said it is prepared to assist the Ministry to ensure that.
“We also endorse His Excellency’s call for transparency in relation to the budgeting and expenditure related to the Black Stars and, by extension, all national teams.
“We support the President’s call for the Ministry to deal transparently with the public regarding these matters and will willingly support the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to achieve this goal.”
This was in response to President John Dramani’s demand for transparency in the expenditure of all national teams.
In his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, the President argued that the citizens have the right to know the full details of what is spent on the teams as they are their financiers.
Additionally, he noted that the cut in profligate spending across state expenditure applied to all sporting teams in the country.
