NDC Reschedules Parliamentary Caucus Meeting To Monday

The National executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have set a new date to meet its Parliamentary Caucus over the changes in Parliamentary leadership.

This is the third date set by the Party to meet its MPs over the development.

The Meeting will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023.

“We wish to have an interactive session with your caucus on Monday, 6th February 2023 at the Parliament house at 2:00pm at a venue of your choice on the matter of the leadership change. The meeting will also enable us formally introduce the new leadership of the Caucus”, a letter from the General Secretary of the Party, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey said, according to Citi News.

Last week, the NDC effected some changes in its Parliamentary leadership replacing Haruna Iddrisu with Cassiel Ato Forson as Minority leader; James Klutse Avedzi with Kofi Armah Buah as the Deputy Minority Leader; and Muntaka Mubarak with Kwame Agboza as Minority Chief Whip.

The NDC has been divided by the development with many expressing surprise and displeasure.

Over 70 NDC MPs have since reportedly signed a petition to protest the changes while others reportedly signed a different petition to show their support.

Those against the changes requested a meeting with the party executives on January 26, however, the executives agreed to meet them on January 31.

On January 31, the meeting was cancelled due to tensions, it was reported.
