NACOC Uncovers Chief Using His Pub to Peddle Illicit Drugs

A traditional leader identified as Nicholas Fiagah, has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) for using his drinking bar at Ankwa-Doboro at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region to peddle illicit drugs.
A search at the pub upon a tipoff led to the discovery of wraps of substances with a weight of 24.46 kilogrammes including 28 quantities of wrapped brown slabs of substance believed to be cannabis; four Round wrapped brown substances believed to be amnesia; and 709 pieces of sealed substances believed to be amnesia.
Others included four round-wrapped white substances believed to be GH Gold; one container filled with substances believed to be cannabis; as well as 46 small tied substances believed to be Hashish.
A statement by the Commission said a field test conducted on the seized consignment proved positive for cannabis and is estimated to have a street value of GHC 40,440.00.
“The suspect was subsequently arrested and detained, where he will be prosecuted in court pending further investigation.”
The NACOC further reiterated its commitment to the fight against drug trafficking and usage in the country.
