Liverpool Hope Of Signing Xabi Dashed

Liverpool will now have to look elsewhere for a Jurgen Klopp replacement after promising football manager Xabi Alonso decided to stay in Germany.

Anfield was seeking to sign him as well as Bayern Munich. However, reports indicate that he will stay with Bayer Leverkusen, whom he has coached finely since October 2022.

The Spanish professional football manager and former midfielder made his intentions clear to the two clubs on Thursday, according to reports.

According to sports journalist Romano Fabrizio, “Xabi Alonso will continue at Bayer for one more year at least… as in 2025, there will be a 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞.”

Meanwhile, the journalist reports that Liverpool, Bayern and Real Madrid will keep following the development of Xabi for future decisions.

Xabi joined Leverkusen in October 2022, with the side in the bottom half of the Bundesliga and fashioned their qualification for the Europa League.

The 42-year-old is in his second season with the club and is unbeaten in all competitions and is convinced to be in the right direction for the Bundesliga title this season.

His side is currently leading the league standings with 70 points, ten points clear of second-placed Bayern.

Klopp will depart Liverpool at the end of this season while Bayern have served notice to part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
