Kudus Is In Ghana- GFA
According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), West Ham star Mohammed Kudus has arrived in Ghana for the Africa Cup of Nations which begins on January 13.
However, he has been ostracized from the rest of the team as he remained in Accra even though the players are camping in Kumasi. This was after reporting late for international duty last week.
As a result, the former Ajax player didn’t train with the rest of the team and subsequently couldn’t feature in the friendly match against Namibia on Monday under the lights at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
In a communiqué on Monday evening, the GFA said the ostracism is due to his recovery from an injury.
“The midfielder is recovering from a minor injury he picked up while playing for West Ham United against Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
“The player is currently undergoing rehabilitation. The medical team of the Black Stars is monitoring his progress and is happy to have him join the squad for the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.”
He will however join the rest of the team to Ivory Coast on January 10, 2024, according to the FA.
Ghana’s opener will be played against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, but there are fears that Kudus could miss it as his recovery timeline would not be due then.
It is reported that the 23-year-old will take between 5-6 days to fully recover.
