KNUST Ranks 1st In Quality Education Globally

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is the leading global university in terms of quality education.

This is according to the 2023 Impact Ranking in terms of Sustainable Development Goal (SGD) 4 by Times Higher Education.

The fifth edition of the rankings was published on June 1, 2023.

KNUST scored 92.3% in Education Impact Ranking that assessed 1, 304 universities.

The top ten Universities per the rankings include KNUST in Ghana, Lingnan University Hong Kong in Hong Kong, Aalborg University in Denmark, Hong Kong Baptist University in Hong Kong and Chinese University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong.

The rest are Al Ain University in UAE, University of L’Aquila in Italy, University of Vigo in Spain, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in India and Istanbul Technical University in Turkey.

Management of the KNUST says the achievement is a significant one resulting from the commitment of staff, students, partners and stakeholders.

“Management expresses profound gratitude to the diligent staff, invaluable partners and esteemed partners for their immense contributions leading to this remarkable milestone,” the University said in a statement.

It further urged them to sustain their unwavering diligence and perseverance.


The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It uses indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.
