NPP’s Recent Setbacks Are Undeniable, But Unity Will Make 2028 Ours- Napo

Former Minister for Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, has acknowledged the recent downturn bedevilling the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), prescribing unity as an antidote.

The 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate believes there is a turning point in every trial, adding that with a united front, the party will return to glory and win the next general election.

“Our recent setbacks are undeniable, but in every trial lies a turning point. If we unite with one purpose, set our minds on a shared vision, and work with discipline, 2028 will be ours to win. We must win for Ghana’s progress and for generations to come.”

It comes after the Parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Bediako Baidoo, took over the vacant Akwatia Parliamentary seat following the demise of the NPP’s Ernest Kumi.

In a by-election held on September 2, 2025, the NDC candidate garnered 18,199 votes.

His fiercest contender, Solomon Asumadu, got 15,235 votes, while the third candidate in the race, the Liberal Party of Ghana’s (LPG) Patrick Owusu, got 82 votes.

The outcome allocates the ruling NDC 183 seats in Parliament and 87 for the opposition NPP.
