Jinapor Accuses Gov’t of Inefficiency and Ineffectiveness in Iran-Israel Conflict Response

The Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has chastised the government for its reactiveness to the conflict between Iran and Israel.

According to him, this has exposed the government’s inefficiency, ineffectiveness and lack of proactiveness.

In a statement, he expressed concern about the nearly one thousand Ghanaians currently stranded in Israel, as well as the displacement of scores of Ghanaians in Iran due to the intensifying missile exchanges between the two countries.

“This distressing development highlights a disturbing lapse in the Government’s response. It is unacceptable that the authorities failed to act with the urgency required, despite clear early warning signs that the conflict was worsening.”

“This delay reflects a troubling degree of inefficiency, ineffectiveness, and a lack of proactive leadership at a time when swift action was imperative.”

On behalf of the Minority in Parliament, the lawmaker called for the activation of all available diplomatic and logistical channels to secure the safe evacuation of Ghanaians from both Israel and Iran without further delay.

He further demanded that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urgently develop a comprehensive evacuation strategy, in coordination with Ghana’s diplomatic missions, international partners, and other relevant stakeholders.

“The safety and wellbeing of Ghanaians abroad must be treated as a national priority and not subjected to bureaucratic inertia or indecision.”

In a statement on Tuesday morning the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, said the closure of the borders of Israel was hindering the evacuation of 922 identified Ghanaians, 65 of which are students studying in six Israeli universities.

He said an evacuation from Israel cannot be carried out now except with the express authorization of Israeli authorities, which approval Ghana is pursuing.

Meanwhile, he said the ongoing evacuation process in Iran was proceeding successfully.
