Implement The 4 Agreed Items By July or We Advise Ourselves; GRNMA to Govt

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has demanded the implementation of four items it agreed with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health.

In a statement on June 26, it stated that the items are non-negotiable and must be implemented in July 2025.

“This is non-negotiable, and we shall advise ourselves if any attempt is made to further delay the implementation. With the other items, we wish to reiterate our position that we are amenable to their implementation no later than January 2026.”

The group said these timelines were clearly captured and signed off at the meeting on July 10, 2025, to avoid ambiguity in the implementation schedule.

It comes after their second meeting with the Committee was rescheduled from June 26, 2025, to July 10, 2025, due to “unavailability of some key stakeholders who are currently unavoidably outside the jurisdiction.”

The group embarked on an industrial action on June 2, 2025, which culminated in the total withdrawal of all nursing and midwifery services on June 9, 2025.

The strike was suspended on June 13, 2025, after the intervention of the Parliamentary Committee.
