I Would Be Dead If I were In Ghana; Kyeiwaa Addresses Critics

Veteran Ghanaian actress, Rose Mensah, popularly known as Kyeiwaa, has stated that she would be a corpse by now had she been in Ghana, looking at the fact that she had been sidelined by almost all the Ghanaian producers plus her meagre earnings from acting.

She was addressing her critics who have been propagating that the celebrated actress washes dishes and sells banku abroad, with the intention of denigrating her.

She admitted, “I have a job with a restaurant. Some Ghanaian actors came here (USA) some time ago, took pictures of me and splashed them on social media that I make and sell banku. How I wish…If that business was mine, I would have thanked God. It is not easy to have a business like that here”.

“I would be dead by now if I were in Ghana. I’m being plausible”, she said and added that the fact that certain decent but menial jobs aren’t appreciated by Ghanaians “is the reason kids are now killing people for money rituals”.

The submissions of the actress meant the money she earned from acting was meagre but living a better life with her newly found job overseas. “Do you know how much I was paid for the movies? Do you know how much I was taking before coming here?”, she quizzed.

According to her, she was no longer receiving roles from producers for at least four years before moving out of Ghana because, according to the producers, she had disrespected them.

“By God’s grace I have made it abroad and am working with a restaurant”, she said.

She also noted that she has been avoiding her colleagues who request to visit her since her first experience.
