Hawa Koomson Now Interim Agric Minister

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Mavis Hawa Koomson as the Minister for Food and Agriculture in the interim.

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East constituency will now be in charge of two Ministries- the Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministry; and the Food and Agricultural Ministry.

This comes after the substantive Minister, Owusu Afriyie Akoto handed over his resignation letter to the President earlier this week at the Jubilee House.

His resignation is in line with his presidential ambition on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Hawa Koomson will remain the caretaker Minister until a substantive person is appointed.

“The President has, subsequently, tasked the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, to act as caretaker Minister at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture until a substantive replacement is made”, a statement from the Director of Communication at the Presidency said.

She has received congratulatory and supportive messages on social media.

“Hawa koomson is not a bad decision”, Good times tweeted.

Another by name Kobby posted, “At least Hawa Koomson is competent at Fisheries”.

Other social media users have rather mocked her appointment.

“We have the men we have the men but it’s Hawa Koomson and Co. Incompetent bunch”, Twitter user by name Agenda posted.

Robert Tornyo tweeted, “Insults and Lies, which is more destructive?”

Citizen Tachiman on his part said, “Hawa koomson who couldn’t define her ministry is now taking over agric Ministry. Akai”.
