4 Nabbed Over Attacks On Court, Police Headquarters, And District Assembly

Four persons are in the grips of the Western Regional Police Command for their involvement in a series of attacks on the Nkroful Magistrate Court, Esiama Police Divisional Headquarters, and Ellembelle District Assembly.

The four persons, according to the police, were with some twenty-two (22) identified suspects in the rampage.

The four suspects who were arrested on Thursday, April 7 are; Richard Tetteh, Kwame Gorkeh Miah, Michael Anyimiah, and Cosmos Gadekor.

The four were reportedly among a group of people who rioted at the District Magistrate Court, Nkroful on April 1, 2022, to demand the release of their colleagues who were standing trial at the Court.

They also attacked the Ellembelle District Assembly, threatened to assault the District Chief Executive, and from there, stormed the Esiama Police Station, vandalised the rooms, and caused damage to vehicles including 2 buses and 1 Toyota Hilux Pickup which were parked at the station, the police recounted.

The identified 22 suspects are said to be at large.

“While we count on the help and support of every well-meaning inhabitant of our country, we assure you that we will not relent on our efforts to ensure that law and order prevail in our society”, the police said.
