GRA Extends Deadline for Filing Personal Income Tax Returns to May 31

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has extended the deadline for filing 2025 Personal Income Tax (PIT) returns from April 30 to May 31, 2026.

The announcement was made on behalf of the Authority by the Commissioner for the Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD), Dr Martin Kolbil Yamborigya, during a tax filing exercise by the Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson and the Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Ampem, on April 30, 2026.

Dr Yamborigya said all taxpayers who take advantage of the extension will not face any penalties for late filing.

“The GRA is happy to say that we are extending for one month the filing of income tax returns, and this extension applies to all individuals, including sole proprietors and employees.”

The Authority intends to trigger the Revenue and Administrative Act to waive all penalties.

The move is aimed at encouraging voluntary compliance and giving taxpayers additional time to meet their obligations without incurring penalties.

The GRA has urged taxpayers to use the extended period to file their returns promptly and to seek assistance where necessary.

The Authority reiterated that tax revenue is critical for funding schools, hospitals, roads, and other public services.
