Police Gun Discovery Solves Killing of Tepa-stationed Officer

The police in the Ashanti Region have discovered a service gun issued to No48034G Corporal Francis Adu Yaw, who was murdered 10 months ago.

The discovery has unravelled the mystery behind the murder of the officer who was stationed at the Tepa police District Headquarters.

He was killed at the Bibiani Goaso highway on November 29, 2024, while returning from official duty.

His weapon, an AK-47 rifle marked GHGP/ASH/TEPA/TP/ B1523, was retrieved from a dismantled gang of about 15 members who targeted financial institutions in the Ahafo, Western, Central, Eastern and Ashanti regions.

“This is an indication that this same gang committed that heinous crime,” said the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service, Lydia Yaako Donkor.

It was among three service weapons that were in the possession of the gang.

According to the CID boss, the other two AK-47 rifles were snatched from officers who were on duty at Ecobank Ahafo Kenyase when they were attacked by the gang on September 8, 2025.

So far, 10 of the gang members have been arrested while three were gunned down in a shootout with the police.

The remaining suspects are on the run.
