GoldBod Pledges to Build World-Class Gold Value Chain with Local Refining and Jewellery

The Ghana Gold Board has committed to developing a fully integrated gold value chain anchored on local refining, jewellery manufacturing, and responsible sourcing.

Speaking at the Ghana Chamber of Mines’ Mining for Development Forum, Deputy Chief Executive of GoldBod, Richard Nunekpeku, Esq., said the Board is already supplying locally licensed refineries with gold and assisting them to secure accreditation from the London Bullion Market Association within the next three to five years.

He noted that the move is aimed at positioning Ghana’s refineries to meet global market standards.

Mr Nunekpeku added that GoldBod is also working closely with industry partners to strengthen responsible sourcing and traceability in line with international requirements.

According to him, these efforts align with the government’s broader vision of ending the export of raw gold by 2030 and retaining more value within the country.
