Ghana’s Mpox Cases Hit 1,075

Ghana has recorded one new case of Mpox, bringing the national cumulative total to 1,075 as of Friday, May 29, 2026, the Ghana Health Service has reported.
There are no new deaths as the current death toll stands at eight, with no new admissions.
According to the GHS, Mpox spreads mainly through close contact with someone who has the infection, including direct contact with skin lesions, bodily fluids, or contaminated materials.
Health officials are urging the public to protect themselves and others by maintaining good hygiene and to report any symptoms early.

Symptoms to watch for include fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills and tiredness.
“If you notice any of these, visit the nearest health facility immediately,” the advisory stated.
The Service said surveillance and contact tracing efforts remain ongoing nationwide. Authorities have reiterated the need for early detection, isolation of cases, and regular handwashing to help curb further spread.
