Ghana’s Economy Strong and Resilient- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has assured citizens that Ghana’s economy remains strong, resilient, and in safe hands despite prevailing global challenges.

Speaking at the ‘Resetting Ghana’ Citizen Engagement (Townhall) held at the University for Development Studies Auditorium, the President highlighted key economic gains, noting that the country’s currency and inflation have stabilized, while strategic interventions have helped cushion citizens against rising petroleum prices.

He further indicated that inflation, which previously exceeded 24 percent, has been reduced to under four percent, with efforts underway to sustain the progress.

On infrastructure, the President revealed that Government is investing nearly 50 billion cedis in road reconstruction, assuring communities yet to benefit that works will extend to them.

He added that ongoing rehabilitation efforts will significantly improve road networks across the Northern Region, enhancing connectivity and development outcomes.

On healthcare, President Mahama reiterated that the Free Primary Health Care initiative will complement existing programmes, including the National Health Insurance Scheme, forming a three-tier system to improve access.

He also announced the construction of a cardiothoracic centre at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, alongside plans to expand centres of excellence in underserved regions.
