Ghana to Begin Nationwide Tree Planting Exercise on June 5

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has announced Ghana’s 2026 nationwide tree planting exercise, set to begin on Friday, June 5, as part of World Environment Day celebrations.

The exercise marks the 2026 edition of the Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative and will run from 5th to 30th June across the country.

The Ministry is calling on the public to participate in efforts to restore and protect Ghana’s environment.

It said free seedlings will be available for collection at the Forestry Commission head office, Forest Services Division regional and district offices, and other designated points nationwide.

“Be part of the tree planting exercise as we come together to restore and protect our environment,” the Ministry said in its announcement.

The Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative is the government’s flagship programme aimed at expanding Ghana’s forest cover, combating deforestation, and building climate resilience.

This year’s edition will be held under the theme: “Together, let us grow a greener future.”
