Ghana And Nigeria Through To WAFU Zone B Finals

Ghana and Nigeria have sailed through to the finals of the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B) U-20 Girls tournament.

This was after they beat their respective contenders in the semis that took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday, May 31, 2022.

The finals will be held at the same venue this Saturday between Ghana and Nigeria.

The winning streak of the Black Princesses in the competition continued as they faced Burkina Faso.

Despite taking an early lead, Burkina Faso conceded three goals across the first and second halves to bring their title chase to an end.

Ghana conceded a goal four minutes into the game but it wasn’t long until the host cancelled it out through a long-range strike by Stella Nyame.

Success Ameyaa made it two for Ghana in the 28th minute in recording her first goal in the competition. The Black Princesses struck the net one more time upon return from recess.

In the second semi-final game, Nigeria recorded a 3-0 victory against Benin.

The highly-anticipated final round will take place on June 3 but ahead of that, Burkina Faso and Benin will compete in the third-place playoff.

The tournament is organised for member states in the sub-region.
