Hearts Says Disciplinary Actions Initiated against Defender Hussein Mohammed

Hearts of Oak has communicated disciplinary action against its defender, Hussein Mohammed, following his confrontation with referee Reginald Collins Amoah after the Kotoko clash on Sunday.

In a statement, it acknowledged that his action did not reflect its upheld values, which are rooted in discipline, respect, and the spirit of fair play.

The club further intimated that the action is intended to serve as a deterrent to other players in the team.

“As part of our internal response, we have initiated disciplinary processes concerning the player involved. These steps are being taken to ensure accountability, uphold our standards, and prevent future occurrences.”

It thereby apologised to the Ghana Football Association, the match officials, the fans, and the general public, saying it recognises the importance of maintaining the integrity of the game and is taking immediate steps to reinforce that commitment.

“Football is a game of passion, but it must always be governed by respect. We remain committed to upholding the dignity of our badge and the trust of our supporters.”

It is reported that Mohammed angrily confronted the centre referee at the final whistle as the referee and his assistants were leaving the field.

He was, however, restrained by the police.

He has since been charged by the FA Disciplinary Committee for misconduct alongside the club.
