Former Education Minister Eyes NPP Flagbearership Position

The Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, intends to contest for the flagbearership position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a Facebook post, the former Education Minister said he was planning to file his nomination once it opened.

“With humility, conviction, and a resolute heart, I, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, declare my intent to run for the Flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should nominations be officially opened by the party.”

Dr Adutwum is the latest person to declare his interest in the position after the party announced a date for the Presidential Primary.

Some bigwigs of the party have long shown interest in leading it back to power after the woeful defeat in the last election.

Among them include former vice President and 2024 flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong, and former Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong.

In a statement three weeks ago, Bryan said his decision was in response to growing encouragement from a broad spectrum of party faithful and extensive consultation with his family and well-wishers.

He asserted his “lifelong” service to the NPP and opined that these roles and experiences have granted him invaluable insights into the sacrifices, dedication, and strategic vision required to build and sustain the foundations of the party.

Ken, on the other hand, has been relentless in his destructive criticism, calling the 2024 flagbearer a questionable pick.

He believes he has paid his dues to the NPP, warranting his consideration for the presidency.
