67 NPP MPs Endorse Bawumia as 2028 Presidential Candidate

Sixty-seven lawmakers are said to have thrown their weight behind former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as the best candidate to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 Presidential Election.
The party will be holding its Presidential Primary on January 31, 2026. In response to this, interested parties have started campaigning to amass delegates’ support.
They visited the 2024 Presidential Candidate to pledge unflinching support and commitment to him.
Aside from Dr Bawumia, other party bigwigs have shown interest in leading it back to power after the woeful defeat in the last election.
Among them include former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, former lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong, and former Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong.
In a statement three weeks ago, Bryan said his decision was in response to growing encouragement from a broad spectrum of party faithful and extensive consultation with his family and well-wishers.
He asserted his “lifelong” service to the NPP and opined that these roles and experiences have granted him invaluable insights into the sacrifices, dedication, and strategic vision required to build and sustain the foundations of the party.
Ken, on the other hand, has been relentless in his destructive criticism, calling the 2024 flagbearer a questionable pick.
He believes he has paid his dues to the NPP, warranting his consideration for the presidency.
