Kotoko Warns Media and Supporters Against Attacks

Asante Kotoko SC has issued a warning to media houses and supporters making scathing attacks against its playing and technical body following their draw against Bechem United over the weekend.

It comes after the club noticed a “disturbing” pattern of commentary in sections of the media “dressed up as analysis” primarily to attack the players and coaches.

“These calculated attacks on our players and coaches, dressed up as analysis, are nothing short of an agendum to sow disunity and sabotage the hard work being done at all levels of the club,” the statement by Communications Director Samuel Sarfo Duku said.

The commentaries, he observes, are a direct threat to the cohesion and focus of the team.

He noted that Kotoko will not countenance subtle or overt statements as the club is determined to sue any media organisation or journalist that defames it.

Supporters Attack
The club equally expressed its disappointment at some key supporters’ decision to lend credence to these divisive narratives.

“Let it be made abundantly clear that the club will not hesitate to take decisive actions against such individuals whose actions undermine our collective interests… We will not allow detractors whether from within or outside to derail our progress.”

It furthered that Kotoko was open to constructive criticism in the quest to improve the status of the club, adding that it was on track to win the league and the FA Cup.
