Dr. Amoako Baah- Arrogance, Others Cause Of John Boadu’s Defeat

Political Scientist, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has disclosed that the lack of concern for party members and arrogance accounted for the fall of the immediate past General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu.

The NPP undertook the final lap of their reorganization process in a keenly contested National election at the Accra Sports Stadium last weekend.

At the end of the contest, the incumbent Chief Scribe of the party was heavily defeated by the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK) notwithstanding the fact that 15 out of the 16 Regional Chairpersons had thrown their weight behind the incumbent, John Boadu.

Reacting to the outcome of the elections, the NPP stalwart, identified the weaknesses that led to John Boadu’s failure to hold onto his post. One such weakness he says is the openly displayed arrogance which the grassroots did not take kindly.

Again, he believes the absence of the General Secretary at the party headquarters may have added to the woes of John Boadu. As General Secretary, he is expected to be operating from the head office but reports available to him indicated that he (John Boadu) hardly stayed and worked from the office.

With respect to the overwhelming support from the Regional Chairpersons, Dr. Amoako Baah said did not have any positive impact on JB’s campaign as he alleged that some of them won their seats in the Regional contest through dubious means and monetization.

He accused the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wontumi) of winning his seat through vote buying and hence had no strong hands on the Ashanti Regional delegates to be able to convince them to vote for John Boadu.

The Political Scientist charged the new leaders to work tirelessly to be able to break the 8.
