COCOBOD Optimistic of Bumper Harvest in 2024

The National Deputy Executive Director in charge of Operations at the Cocoa Health Extension Division (CHED) of Ghana Cocoa Board, Dr. Kwame Owusu-Ansah, has expressed optimism that the 2024 cocoa season will witness a bumper harvest compared to previous years.

The management of the Cocoa Health Extension Division is currently on a three-day working tour of the Ashanti Region to inspect and monitor a pruning exercise ongoing in the region.

Dr. Owusu-Ansah started his tour in the Atwima Mponua District with the Ashanti Regional Manager for Cocoa Health Extension Division (CHED), Mr. Ebenezer Kwabena Agyin, and ended in Manso.

In an interview with Adwoa Serwaa Yonkodo, Opemsuo News Reporter, Dr. Owusu-Ansah said the pruning system is a critical exercise intended to improve the health conditions of cocoa trees to yield more beans.

He assured cocoa farmers that they will be provided  with all the necessary materials and insecticides for their cocoa farms.

Furthermore, he advised them to obey their instructions because it will help them harvest more crops and prevent some insects from infesting their cocoa farms.
