Finance Ministry: Charles Adu Boahen Hasn’t Tendered In His Resignation

The Ministry of Finance has discredited reports that the Minister for State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen’s resignation has been bounced by President Akufo-Addo.

The news about his resignation was announced by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa last week following demands for him to resign.

In a tweet, the MP quizzed the President’s motive for turning down the resignation.

“Why is he refusing to accept the resignation of Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen?”, he posted.

But the Ministry of Finance has discredited this information as “rumours” and “untrue”.

“Rumours about the Honourable Minister of State tendering in his resignation are untrue and should be disregarded. Stories of this nature are unhelpful at this time, and the general public is advised to disregard them completely.”

Last Tuesday, 80 New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislators demanded the resignation or sacking of the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen for what they said was the downturn in economic growth.
