Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, in Whom I’m Well Pleased, Says Asantehene

During the 59th Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), attended by the Vice President, the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, addressed her with the words: ‘Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, in whom I’m well pleased.’

This rare honorary conferred by the Asantehene is linked to her role in the government’s commitment to release GHC46 million for the completion of the KNUST Teaching Hospital and an additional $38 million for its equipping as part of the 2025/26 Formula of GETFUND.

His Majesty, while explaining the motivation behind the honorary, said he had in the past years “screamed” out for attention to the stalled project to no avail.

However, His Majesty says he has received a positive response after conveying the same appeal once again to the President through the Vice President at the 58th Congregation.

“The reason why I said I’m well pleased in the Vice President is that it was through her that we sent the message, and she carried the message, and now the money is being delivered. I’m sure we shall have it.”

The 59th Congregation was held on November 29, 2025.
