Ashfoam Donates 600 Student Mattresses for Otumfuo-funded Sefwi Wiawso SHS Dormitory
The Ashanti Foam Factory Limited (Ashfoam) has donated 600 mattresses for the newly inaugurated Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School (SHS) dormitory in the Western North Region.
The donation was received by Odeneho Okyere Kusi Ntrama, Essumegyahene, and representatives of the Otumfuo Foundation on July 21, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace.
The mattresses were presented by the General Manager of Ashfoam, Mr. Ayman Nahle; the Head of Marketing and Communications, Nana Yaw Ampem-Darko Antwi; and the Secretary of Ashfoam Kumasi, Akosua Oforiwa Obiri-Boateng.
Presenting the items, Nana Yaw Ampem-Darko Antwi said the company deemed it imperative to immediately respond to the Otumfuo Foundation’s request for beds for the school.
He said the gesture aligns with Ashfoam’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) focus on youth development.
According to him, the donation also marks the beginning of more CSR activities as the company celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year.
The company further pledged to donate additional beds for the residence of house mistresses.
Company Roots
Nana Yaw Ampem-Darko Antwi highlighted Kumasi as the company’s roots.
He recalled how the Asantehene, in 1976, supported the establishment of the factory with land and blessings.
Over the years, the company has grown across the country and into exports.
He credited Asanteman for the company’s success story over the past 50 years.
Facility
The 600-bed capacity facility was funded by the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his alma mater.
The three-storey building was officially inaugurated and handed over by Otumfuo Hiahene and Board Chairman of the Foundation, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II in November 2025.
It has spacious dormitory rooms with washrooms on each floor, a washing and ironing area, a hall/common room, and a storeroom.
It also houses an infirmary and a two-bedroom flat for the house mistress.
