Asenso-Boakye to Agbodza: Focus on Delivering Infrastructure, Not Politics

Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, has criticised the previous NPP government for introducing drone technology for medical supply deliveries while allegedly failing to conduct a proper survey for the Accra-Kumasi road construction.

However, his remarks did not sit well with his predecessor, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, MP for Bantama, who responded by defending the use of drones in infrastructure development.

In a Facebook post, Asenso-Boakye expressed his confusion over Agbodza’s comments, questioning the basis of his criticism.

He explained that drone technology is widely adopted across various sectors, including agriculture, construction, environmental monitoring, and urban planning, due to its efficiency and precision.

According to him, drones equipped with cameras, LiDAR, and multispectral sensors provide high-resolution images, detailed mapping, and rapid data collection. Their ability to capture topographic details, monitor land use changes, and generate 3D models makes them an invaluable tool for modern infrastructure projects.

Additionally, drones can access difficult terrain while significantly reducing costs and time compared to traditional surveying methods.

Asenso-Boakye urged his successor to prioritise delivering essential public infrastructure to drive the country’s socioeconomic growth rather than engaging in what he described as unnecessary political rhetoric.
