1994 Year Group Donates To St Anne’s Anglican Primary

The 1994 alumni of St Anne’s Anglican Basic and Junior High have donated to the Primary A of the school as part of efforts to give back to the institution located at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The donation was made by the President of the Group alongside one other member of the class on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Among the items donated were dustbins, tables and chairs, ceiling fans, chalks, pens and more worth thousands of cedis.

In an interview with Opemsuo Radio’s Joe Abeka, the President of the group, Mr Akwasi Coker Gyambidi, said the donation was the first of a series they intend to give the school to alleviate challenges it is currently confronted with.

“We are products of this school. We enrolled in 1986 and graduated in 1994 from St Anne’s Primary School. Our batch has formed an association. Most of them are plying their trade outside the country. Only six of us are in Kumasi.

“With the help of this school, we have professionals like doctors, lawyers, teachers and others. As such we have decided to give back to the school. Upon consultation, we realized that the Primary was more challenged and we are here to donate to help ease the school of its burden… We recognized that they are our future leaders so we need to assist them with whatever help they may require in shaping and making their future brighter.”

According to him, a list of items and areas in which the school requires assistance has been acquired for subsequent donations to the institution.

For her part, the headmistress of St Anne’s Anglican Primary A, Mrs Theodora Amuonu expressed her immense appreciation to the donors and urged other year groups to emulate.

“We thank the 1994 Group for the donation. We were really challenged but the donation of these items will go a long way to relieve us. That notwithstanding we need more help. I use this opportunity to appeal to all other year groups to come to our aid.”

Accompanying Mr Gyambidi was Mr Bashiru Shewu, a member of the 1994 Year Group.
